Belarus and Hungary start a structured cooperation in research, development and innovation

In accordance with the decisions of the 6th Hungarian-Belarusian Intergovernmental Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation held in September 2015, the first meeting of the Hungarian-Belarusian Working Group on Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) was held on 19-20 April 2016 at the National Research, Development and Innovation Office in Budapest. The Belarusian part of the Working group is led by the State Committee on Science and Technology.

The Working Group has agreed about the modalities of cooperation. It will support researchers’ mobility, joint use of RDI facilities and research infrastructure, organization of scientific events and information exchange, as well as participation in the EU-funded programmes. The special attention will be provided to the first joint call for proposals to be launched in 2017 to support researchers’ exchange between the organisations of the two countries.

The priority areas of bi-lateral cooperation for the coming years will be:

  • Energy and renewables
  • Agricultural sciences and food industry
  • Medicine and medical technologies, biotechnologies, pharmacy
  • Chemical technologies, nano- and new materials.

Within the first joint call, the Working Group has agreed upon supporting 5-6 bi-lateral projects.
